Sokhothai was Thailand’s first capital thriving in the 13th century and for the next 200 years, when country was called Siam. This was the golden age of artistic, religious and architectural achievement in Siam led by King Ramkhamhaeng. We visited the impressive remains of the ancient city which are now well preserved in the Historical Park.

In 1438 the city of Sokhothai was absorbed into the Kingdom of Ayuthaya. In the city of Ayuthaya today there are still many monuments to that great historical city, which we visited later in May
