Family Future?

A slight swell, forty five fighting for survival. Forty five families arranging prayers and handing out cola nuts. Forty five more, ripe with hope. Another frail wooden boat.
This story was inspired by the death of a friend's brother trying desparately to find a way of helping his family out of poverty.
The man with a bed on his head
Posted by: | CommentsHe cycled along upright and balanced at a sedate pace over the rough sandy lane.Perfectly stable, square on his head rode the metal frame of a double bed. Where was he going this rusty hated miracle of poise? Off to the welders to repair the damage of enthusiastic procreation.

She stands staring silently seaward searching ceaselessly for her lost love. Drowned in a voyage to find her sea-claimed spouse, only her sorrowing statue remains, worshiped by Sihanoukville bound travellers. No solace in the fragrant incense or bountiful fruits offered by the faithful hoping for protection from life’s cruel blows.
